...and time passed.

Unfortunately, I have to inform that I got a job in the beginning of last month, all of a sudden. Since then I have not really had much time or energy to work on Nashalrath, so I'm putting what I've got in the WIP pack and releasing the pack. Nashalrath is currently close to being a somewhat functional map. It does, however, need fixing and balancing. After testing the map and talking with J-M about it, I think that it does still need some expansion and if I were to finish the map, I would like to replace the tunnel part (i.e. unrest2 by Jester) with original content. All this requires some work and at the moment I'm not really up for it, maybe some time later. I don't want to keep the map reserved, though, so it's going in the pack and someone else can give it a go if they feel like it. I'll have to see about finishing it when I have more time and energy on my hands.

The good news, on the other hand, is the new WIP pack. It's a nice, clean all-in-one pack for people interested in finishing something. At the moment, I'm hosting it, but Thothie, could you grab it and put it on your page? The file can be downloaded below, and here's also the readme.

WIP pack

Code:
Directory: Dridjes_abandoned
Author: Dridje
Name: [unnamed]
Decription: "For this map I used Crow's 'allinone.wad'"

Directory: Elwood
Author: Kai
Name: Elwood
Decription: "It's a decent map, I call it Elwood. I planned for it to be a
small, 15-25 level map with a few surprises and caves and the
such. basically a cross road map. "allinone.wad" by Crow,
should provide all the needed textures. Brushwork is slightly
complicated, so I don't suggest movin' too much stuff around."

Directory: Joes_abandoned
Author: Joe!
Name: [unnamed maps, see filenames]
Decription: "I pretty much dumped my whole maps folder, so I'm not really
sure what's all in here." Contains several map fragments which
could be combined to form one or two bigger maps.

Directory: Run
Author: Oedipus
Name: Run
Decription: "Run is a large but simple outdoor map."

Directory: The_Village
Author: LittleFrodo
Name: The Village
Decription: "The Village, while far from complete, does contain some well
constructed brushwork, and might be worth integrating into an
                existing map."

Directory: Tundra
Author: Franswa (tundra), Kuroneko(?) (mines), P|Barnum (frozen city)
Name: Tundra / Mines / Frozen city
Decription: "Tundra, the oft talked of map of frozen ice to connect
various nasty areas in the northern part of the world.
Contains both ice caves and wide open areas. Originally
connected to ms_mine, but seems the poly count went too high
when maps were combined." Frozen city wasn't originally
intended to be a part of Tundra, but can be used for that
                purpose.

Directory: Verath
Author: LittleFrodo (map), Gurluas (scripts)
Name: Verath
Decription: "Verath is a small, mostly abandoned town leading to some
caves and a strange keep." The scripts directory contains
                some Verath-related script files.

Directory: Nashalrath
Author: Jester (tunnel part), LittleFrodo (rest), J (modifications,
                optimization), Thothie (modifications)
Name: Nashalrath
Description: All 3 Nashalrath maps merged into one. Could use some expansion
and replacing the tunnel part with original work. Uses
                allione.wad and ms_generic.wad.

Top page updated accordingly.

Thanks for sticking those maps together in a single archive with explanation.

By the way, I left out the maps that have been finished (for example bloodrose and b_castle). If need be, I could make a pack that contains those too.

No need, thanks. I think we've enough tutorial maps, and I don't think either of those would serve that purpose well. 'Can't think of any other use for them.

Jumping to new projects whenever you get frustrated with the previous just tends to lead to dozens of unfinished projects. There are several folks who regularly contribute to the WIP archive who can attest to that.

O hai, i'm going to not work on RUN anymore :? I realized that I don't like big open up areas where you roam everywhere.

If anyone wants to take it up, go ahead.
I'd advise you too use this version of Run that Thothie fixed up.

The original was sloppy :|

Anyways, I'm a weird mapper and like to finish other people's maps, soooo I'm looking for any maps out there that have been abandoned that are NOT in the WIP's Abandoned maps section yet ^_^

*sigh* The only difference between that one and the original, is that I went and func_walled the trees. ;) Again, probably be even better to clip brush and illusionary em... The only other thing causing complications for the Run map is some overly ambitious terrain deformation. It wouldn't be too much work to delete the terrain in one or two areas and fill it with flat brushes.

In anycase, I'll go to the top post and put the poor map back into its grave.

Don't worry Thothie, If I ever get super mega ultra bored, I might just come back and revive this map. Right now I'm completely out of fresh ideas for this map! But that's why I'm looking for another map not already on here

Nashalrath has recieved a retcon
Nashalrath is inhabitated by Fallen Elves(Bludgeons do not exist in Ms:S).

The Ruins of Nashalrath will also be featured in Ms:S

Here are some screenshots, if all goes well the map will be released with the next update for Ms: C

Sarcarsm? It's fairly easy to see goldsource, especially with the textures.

That looks good for a lvl range, since lvl 35 and lower maps aren't much of a challenge anymore.
Sounds nice to have a map that high lvl meaning there will be problems for the highest players in msc. :)

*grumble grumble* I guess I'll have to change the enemies to elves then... I sure hope they are approx. of the same difficulty as the bludgeons so I don't have to go through readjusting the multipliers and all that jazz, it's the most tedious part of making a map if you ask me.

The level range will probably not be that high. Maybe something around 35-45.

Most of the stuff you see in the screenshots was mapped by LittleFrodo.
