To compile your map, press F9 in the editor.
F9 dont work for me

That dosnt work for steam I thought - Maybe snarkpit.nets config setup tut is wrong.. I dont know but I still get that error when trying to play my maps (which has a screen shot above or page 1) "X(whatevermap i do) is not found on server) I think it has to be a .bsp but i have .map .. I am so lost.

I do have batch compilers but I havnt used them for anything

*Edit found screenshot
http://img53.imageshack.us/my.php?image=er1zl.jpg - that was for HL1 But I still get same error on MSC And Yes I used Edanas textures so the mods already got it

Says map not found on server... Mayhaps BSP is not in right folder.

Also if yer testing in HL1 - and you've got no info_player_start, you'll have to go sv_cheat 1 and noclip to find your map. ;) (You'll spawn at 0x0x0)

In regards to F9 - I recommend against it, for I have read that the DOS shells that Hammer makes do not always supply enough memory to the compiler, and it causes it to do strange and funktastic things. Also some experience with that, as I've seen the Hammer F9 do strange and funktastic things with maps that my batch files handled fine.

1. Thats it! lol I cant figure out how to make it a .bsp all I have is my .map .rmf .hammer ect I dont know how to make it into .bsp F9 does not work either.

2. I am no longer testing in HL1 Im currently in MS:C now.

3. Thanks didn't know hammer did such things - I will look out for that in the future.

Gah, I can't find a good ZHLT batch file tutorial for the life of me, and I dun have enough time to put together one just now but... I can provide my own batch file examples with some notes, I guess:

http://www.thothie.com/ms/ZHLT_Batch_examps.rar

Right click on a batch file, and click 'edit' to view its contents.

The !readme should give you most of the info you need, and some links.

Although they are just examples, they are good to go as they are, provided you change the path in port.bat

While I'm here, I'll also give you a list of cardinal mapping sins (gets on soap box):
-Thou shall not hollow anything, ever
-Thou shall not use cylinders without aligning every vertex to the grid
-Thou shall not scale spikes, and thou shall make sure each vertex of a spike aligns to the grid
-Thou shall not overlap brushes
-Thou shall not scale or rotate complex nor oddly shaped objects
-Thou shall not build a box around your map to avoid leaks
-Thou shalt always snap to grid
-Thou shalt always align to a large grid (x16+) when not drawing details
-Thou shalt follow the omni-present law of KISS

PS. Bad netizen!!! Don't underline text and make me think I can click on it!

You need to replace 'mapname' with the actual name of your map. So if your map's name is 'omg_u_just_ated_teh_bord', then you must replace every single 'mapname' with 'omg_u_just_ated_teh_bord'.

Whats weird is I have them both on my map = <

Maybe its my server settings? Thothie said I was missing the Ms_player_begin but I put that on there - still have the problem.

Bah mapping dosn't like me.

It looks like he actually just ran my batch compiler - praying something would happen - without bothering to check the readme, place ZHLT in the right folder, or anything... Readme told him to replace mapname with his mapname so... Why am I writing again?

Upload your RMF someplace, I suspect ye maybe beyond all hope. ;)

Whatever happened to "CARVE == EVILS!"?

I *knew* I was forgetting one. Yay, now I have 10 commandments... Just need to figure an order.

-Thou shall not hollow anything, ever
-Thou shall not carve anything, ever
-Thou shall not use cylinders without aligning every vertex to the grid
-Thou shall not scale spikes, and thou shall make sure each vertex of a spike aligns to the grid
-Thou shall not overlap brushes

-Thou shalt follow the omni-present law of KISS
-Thou shalt not sleep with your father's uncle's nephew's cousin's, former roommate, unless she's really hot

...wait, that's eleven... hmmm...

OK I figured it out I used the Compiling tool which is alot easier.. .. Also It was JUST that map I couldn't spawn on - The quick test map I made recently I could . Also I just have a few questions about the rules.

-Thou shall not hollow anything, ever - WOW im still a noob I Dont know how Im going to not hollow stuff-Thou shall not carve anything, ever - Dont know how to do it :(
-Thou shall not use cylinders without aligning every vertex to the grid - Ok
-Thou shall not scale spikes, and thou shall make sure each vertex of a spike aligns to the grid
-Thou shall not overlap brushes- Still don't know what a offical brush is.
-Thou shall not scale or rotate complex nor oddly shaped objects
-Thou shall not build a box around your map to avoid leaks- OK.
-Thou shalt always snap to grid- I do ^ ^
-Thou shalt always align to a large grid (x16+) when not drawing details
-Thou shalt follow the omni-present law of KISS - =( what law

u can do those things... it just tends to fuck up your mapping and if u "fix the problem" it always gives u some weird ass shape thats completely differnt that what u expected or reaches all the way tot he end of the map lol...
