Btw, figured we should review the various summon modes, since they've been pretty thoroughly revamped, behavior wise:

• "Defend Mode" (by speech "defend" - default mode on spawn)
- If the summon has no target, he will follow you. Summon will ignore targets more than a short distance from it. Summon will maintain a respectful distance, but stay nearby.
• "Follow Mode" (by menu or speech "follow")
- Summon will disengage any combat and ignore all targets, and follow you very closely.
• "Hunt Mode" (by menu or by speech "hunt")
- Summon will move away from master and look for something to kill.
• "Kill Target Mode" (by speech "kill")
- Summon will attack the master's current target (if any). If there is no valid target, it will enter hunt mode. If it's target is slain, it will also enter hunt mode.
• "Guard Mode" (by menu or speech "guard")
- Summon will stop and guard its position. It will not move, at all. It will engage attackers but not move from its spot to do so. If it is thrown or otherwise dislodged from its guard position, it will attempt to return to it or the general vicinity.
• "Unsummon" (by menu or speech "dismiss")
- Summon will vanish. There's a 10 summon limit, so this can be useful.

Hired NPC's also have this same menu, and all these options (save for "Unsummon" where they instead have "Disband")

Summons should lag a LOT LESS now. One of the issues I discovered is that the summon's AI script was actually running on both the client and the server at the same time (this caused much of the odd behavior as well). Summons are now entirely server side, and shouldn't leave any "ghost" code on the client that causes you to get consecutively laggier even after they're gone.

MAPPER TOY
Forgot this one: "xyz" at console now returns both your position AND your ANGLES - which is VERY handy for placing monsters in maps you are ripenting. It also returns them in a hammer-friendly format (ie. separated by spaces) so you can just right-click copy and paste.

Make sure you QUIT STEAM before installing. You'll have to reboot and reinstall if you don't, as it tends to corrupt the DLLs.

I broke it already!

Installed feb and when starting a listenserver i get this bundle of joy:
Adding: msc/dlls\ms.dll

Last 32 messages parse

.. followed by this a few times :

and then:

How did I break it and how can i fix it any ideas?

->Managed to join a feb server and it promptly crashed from what I could tell go me :oldangry:

Delete the msc\dlls\ms.dll and reinstall
If that dun fix it use the old ms.dll (from yonder) - just the MS.DLL though - not the whole package... (install it in a temp folder, and snag the ms.dll - NOT the sc.dll)

It maybe those SSE2 math operations weren't as widely used as I thought, in which case I may have to dump the optimization. :/

Be sure to tell me ASAP if that turns out to be the issue, and the reinstall alone don't fix it. I'll remove the opt and distribute the SSE2 version as a seperate option for the 1337.

The old dll has it working I take it that will cause some issues with other clients though? Still it works for me most important bit.

Damn... Shouldn't cause any issues. MS.DLL is strictly server side.

I'll have to recompile an MS.DLL and hand it to you... But I won't be back for a few hours... Meantime, if you find another host with that issue, be sure to point them at your thread.

• monsters/slime_black_large - large black pudding, splits into small puddings

- note large and huge slimes and their children are "demon" faction while small slimes are "wildanimal" faction - this is to ease placement (low level areas tend to have more "wildanimal" types)

• monsters/slime_ceriux1 - tiny green slime - do not tie to firepershall events, buggy model forces buggy kill meathod - it will not detect
• monsters/fallen_armor_triggered - this variant of the fallen armor doesn't get up until he recieves the ms_npcscript event " enter_combat " (v.mean!)
• monsters/zombie_decayed - a weak zombie - zomg it sounds like brain bread! (even though its some other mod entirely)
• The following "no roam" variants of these monsters exist due to there being no monster spawns in edanasewers and the need to restrict their movement in said map:
- monsters/slime_ceriux1_nr
- monsters/zombie_decayed_nr
- monsters/slime_black_large_nr
• monsters/skeleton_geric - Alias for The Dread Knight Sir Geric, ww3d style. Note: New model, and in some ways (many ways), meaner than his cousin Lord BS.

its also bandwidth/server friendly, as it is a TOTAL of about 800kb, in BSP format, i used all default wadfiles and no custom models....just for you lazy people who download from the server ;)

Thothie - Do you think widening the monster clips could help? They may just be too thin so the monsters walk through them.

Someone with the SSE2 problem download that and get back to me to see if that fixes it ASAP. If it does, I'll re-integrate it into the betapack. Keeping the revision name though. (I'll distro the other .dll seperately for those who want it.)

Yer not hosting a server, dun worry about it... Suffice to say, if you have trouble hosting one, see the support section for more details.

......Oh yeah FLAME LICK is also in game - I plain forgot I put that in there.

...all of P|Barnum's models now have proper, functioning viewmodels. I still want to do more with the volcano blade though.

Oh yeah, the volcano blade actually summons volcanos now. Albiet - the Nova Blade is looking like a better contender for that, but I've no player model for it.

That would be easier than having to track it down...like post a sticky on future updates and the link followed by simplified information on how to download the link.

If the link dont work try to have a back up and also ive noticed some things dont really work out so try to have something to fall back on like a fix for the patch just in case ^_^.

Not that its my call or anything...just a suggestion.

BTW keep up the good work on the mod and please make the craplag golden axe a lil easier to get just so that people like me can actually see how much it sucks when they use it and not learn by the he said she said stuff :3. Just something to think about too hehe great work with the mod.
