But this isn't a thread about the process of making money, it's about why axes suck, and the consensus is dps, more specifically, miss rate.

My point is that the axe sucks because it's very difficult to get. If it didn't take you until level 40, then it would be useful.

If you're diligent you could get it at 25-26, 40 is exaggerating a bit too much. Most of everyone's complaint it miss rate for axes in general, not UGA's rarity, and 50% population possesion isn't rare.

50% is probably the largest exaggeration I've heard, and most of the axes are farmed by vets and given to their lower friends. If UGA has 50% pop. possession then every other item must have 100%, minus phoenix and a two or three others.

Regardless, I agree that the axe miss rate is a little high. Besides that the axes seem to be fine.

Hmmh... I think we need more equal To Hit-rates, but increase DPS if the speed is slower.

Faster weapon = less DPS
Slower weapon = more DPS

Slower weapons I think should have a slight lower To Hit-rate, by 5% or so.
If Short Sword has 70% base, Long Sword has 65%, just by example.

Logic being because the weapons are heavier to swing, it's easier for the enemy to dodge.

Swords should be better for parrying, as originally intended, whereas axes are more slaughtering weapons with heavy damage cone effect attacks, and blunt arms can stun.

I have no idea what the spring thing that completely exhausts you with the Small Arms is supposed to do, though... Doesn't seem feasible to use to run away or charge with, as I usually just fly by the enemy instead, or become so exhausted after fleeing that the creature will catch up on my anyways.

Small Arms is supposed to increase not only your run speed, but your attack speed too. It just doesn't work :p.

You know the trained bandit rouges and how they grunt and go off on you with the bone blade they have? That's what the SA charge is suppose to do. I agree with balancing to an extent, each weapon should be proportionally *useful* (not neccecarily damaging) as it is difficult to get. That's why GiB seems overpowered, cause it's not exactly hard to get, and is one of if not the best weapon in the game. However, UGA for example is much harder to get, and though it's useful for divination training at high levels, it's dps is nothing compared to a nova blade. Sure, you might get lucky and tick off a 1.2k dmg hit on a skeleton, but by the time you do that some guy with a nova has slaughtered the rest of the room.

Small arms increases your run and attack speed? I have 21 in small arms, meaning if it did work I'd run pretty damned fast.

It increases your run speed because it raises the attributes that make you run faster, but it doesn't increase your attack speed.

Heh... I meant the Small Arms specials are suppose to give you a temporary boost in run speed and attack speed. Currently only run speed works and it takes all your stamina, so its pretty pointless to use.

Bah, it's quite fun, actually. I like using it to lunge at the treasure chest near Maldora's room (before the floor breaks) in ms_wicardoven. Apart from that, it's utterly useless.

If you think it's useless, you aren't using it right  The special works by giving you a speed boost and taking it away when you've travelled a certain distance FROM THE START POINT. Notice, that's not "travelled a certain distance". What this means is that you can use the special and run around in a "set" circle for (at least) a long time. So you can run in, hit an enemy, and run back before they can hit you. It's very useful if you aren't using it to LAWL I RUN DIS WAY NOW
