found it, surprisingly...it was a SOLID WALL WHICH WAS SQUARE, WHICH I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED AND REPLACED (with ctrl+Z)

go hammer go!

its done, and compiled, everything seems to be working properly....other than script issues >_____>

anyways, i'll need to setup some sort of freeweb type thing [since my site goes down in 8 days or so] less thothie or someone else wants to host my map :D (pretty small filesize, and -wadincluded with no extra models or anything even)

script issues:

monsters have tunnelvision (they wont attack walls to try to get to player as intended)
supervisor refuses to talk until you whack him and run
lures and guards are both being hit with race_human, but guards will still try to kill the lures

Get me the map so I can try to figure out what up with this... The Outpost Super works fine on the test map... The lures are human by default now - you shouldn't need to run race_human on them - although it maybe what is causing the issue (effectively setting the race twice). As for the tunnel vision I'd have to see it to understand exactally what ye be getting at. The only time a monster should favor a lure over a player is if the lure is closer, and the player is not attacking.

Alright, I am a poo-poo head.

Apparently, for some damned reason, my damned lures are still set race "hated" (maybe I updated from the laptop wrong, or somethin). This seems to be what has your super all in a huff - he spots them before you set them human. Fixing that bit seems to have unbuggard him. I've made lures non-solid and restored to their old size of 32x32 now.

Use the SC.DLL I sent ya for the fix. (note under that sc.dll, you do not need the ms_npcscript that sets race)

For the map, I'd recommend (as we discussed in IM)
- Move the lures far enough from the wall that the orcs can actually strike them.
- Reduce the number of lures / consolidate some lure events (maybe reduce that wall to 2 breakables, for instance)
- Make sure that all lures that serve the same function are removed when their event is triggered (via killtarget)
- Make sure all your monsters are spawned by triggers (including the lures)
- Make sure there is a game-stopping penalty for the Supervisor's death (as discussed)

All that shouldn't be much work...

What might be more work is making that valley longer. Seems there's not much leadin between the orc spawn and the lures. Maybe too hard as a result, or too tempting to stay inside the orc spawn. Also may not be a bad idea to branch the valley, so orcs can invade from more than one direction / avoid being camped by players. (Or you could have them come in through caves/cliffs the players can't reach)

...I don't want your map to be unplayable till Nov 1st as a result of my racial screwup with the lures. When you get it to where you want it with that sc.dll - I may just release a transitory server-side only patch for those servers who want to host your map sooner rather than later.

What if I, as a faithful player, am unable to hold this frenzy of playing power packed behind my fingers for such a length of time? Hmmm?? Meh, oh well... I can blow away my frenzy'lishish fingers on CS:S surf maps :D

it needs testers D:


cant remember exactly what problem i had with this, but i'm pretty sure it was fairly small (something didn't fall right or some such)

although, the caves in it are a bit bad...and need fixing up - when MiB comes over here after the holidays we'll fix this first - then release it, and go onto bloodrose (which mostly just needs boss chambers/dungeons) and then badlands - which is pretty much barely started-ish (it was about 50%, but it started to lag badly because it didn't comply to hl1's engine - so its being reworked)

That there would be a visible AA texture getting hit by a light source.

Foutpost don't work yet SFAIK. It was so close to done, I dunno why it's not been finished though.

I tested most of the maps yesteday, so far so good even though I died every 5 secs due to 20hp. I cant wait to see these maps in-game.
Keep up the good work !

MiB is on his way over and we'll figure out whats wrong with the map...along with probably redoing a bit...

i'm not really satisfied with the current ammount of detail, i had to cut a TON of the detail i had in out because of the lag some users (most) were getting (due to massive epoly from monsters/models)...i might just remake the map (but NOT the entities) i'm pretty fast at the actual mapping part...tis just entities that slow me down, and those are done and should be bug-free

You were so bloody close to done... If you decide to make major changes, keep a backup of your source, so maybe you can pass it off to someone else when you start feeling the burn, get kidnapped by aliens, or wowed.
