A few things made worse in 1.01.

Movement has been screwed up since I got the patch, moving through tunnels is like trying to push an elephant into your front door, moving backwards is like trying to push the space shuttle through your front door.

Performance, the game has in irregular framerate now, the frame rate isnt like a constant slow, its more like its, flickering... It doesnt slow down the game, it just makes you sick.

(And I still see skeletons spawning in the roof of the cave)
But yeah, fixing the MOVEMENT is a MUST, its just not MS without the free fast paced move system.

I've been getting reports of this with the last 1.01dev_c update (1/6 - 3:49AM PST update)

If it persists I'll downgrade to dev_a and wait for a new patch.

We aren't sure what happened with the movement, and it doesn't seem to do it on all servers. However, if you increase sv_acceleration to 25 or so, that ussually counters it.

And some massive lag spikes occur whenever a client joins. Massive.

Actually, even with 2 players, this patch made my serve lag like mad.

The issue is in the ms.dll though. You can still use the latest sc.dll. (which I think gets you dagaroth, edanasewers, etc. still)

For those of you short sighted enough not to backup your DLL's before you overwrite them with betas, (not that I'm thinking of anyone in particular :roll here's the older MS.DLL:

With this older ms.dll and the newest sc.dll, I've got six players in thornlands with under 200 ping each and no spikes. - Rather rare in and of itself for my poor overworked girl here.

edit: this new MS.dll also generated a brand new memory error... But I neglected to screenshot it, apparently... Damnit... Something like "Memory Error: Unable to access block" - as opposed to the usual alloc block error... don't quote me on that... I can't test the new MS.DLL any further though, it just makes the server unplayable. :\

Ok, I recognize this framerate flickering thing.


When I was mapping in HL2 I made an outside swamp map, it was made of MOSTLY displacements, when I added flickering torches, the frame rate jumped for every flicker, felt just like what im getting in MSC now.

It effects the thornlands, and the sewers and daragoth are REAL bad. Edana had it, until it started raining, and then it was ok.

Its almost as if every 5 frames were being skipped.

Er... Wha? The MS.dll I linked? It's not supposed to run... Drop it in your servers msc/dlls folder - you will have to close the server first.

If you just want to join other people's servers, do this:
FIRST download Version 1.01 testing.
http://www.msremake.com/Files/101-testing.rar
Open the RAR file and select all files (five folders and three loose files). Then extract them to
...\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life\msc
and overwrite all old files

SECONDLY download client.dll.
http://www.msremake.com/Files/client.rar
Open the RAR file and extract client.dll to
...\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life\msc\cl_dlls
overwrite the old file

If you want to create your own, up-to-date server, do this also:
Download sc.dll
http://www.msremake.com/Files/sc.rar
Open the RAR file and extract sc.dll to
...\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life\msc\dlls
overwrite the old file

Download ms.dll
http://www.msremake.com/Files/ms.rar
Open the RAR file and extract ms.dll to
...\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life\msc\dlls
overwrite the old file

wrong file association i guess maybe youve set the comp to open .rar files with hl2.exe :? Do you know how to fix this?

My Computer, open Tools -> Folder Options. Go to the File Options tab and fix it from there.
