Error:Game crashes while creating a lan server
Stays on "Creating Local Server" then crashes to desktop with no error message.

Fix:Change Central Server addr to 127.0.0.1:5275, change Central Server password to password (Thanks to dogg for posting elsewhere)

Sorry if this seems like a repost, but I think this will help a few people out.

Hey

I've noticed that on every single map change my game crashes, giving me an error that says something like 'invalid pixel format.'

It also seems that the troll in Heras has no hitbox for archery, I haven't tried meleeing it yet.

I've recently discovered a few new bugs, and a major fix, at least for me...

first off, the bugs

-animations for the longsword are messed up. it seems to play them at random. the block, the forward jab, and the downward slice all play randomly when attacking. the "block" still works sort of, at least the animation. in 3rd person, whenever you attack with the long sword, it just looks like you're running

-"flame covered bats" get stuck easily on pretty much anything, including you, and dont attack. some dont get stuck and do attack normally

-while wandering through sfor, i experience some strange model issues. my weapon model would just dissapear, and reappear at random. using different weapons or spells did not change this. it has only ever happened in sfor, and it started near the lake.

-when changing maps, items on player do not appear untill you take them off and put them back on

-the troll is immune to magic. probably on purpose though

-on occasion i have delt small negative damg (-0.8)

-once, transitioning to helena from thornlands, i have -1600-ish health and mana, which rose rapidly back up to normal

-i think this has been posted already, but armor shows through the body, er... the other way around.

-trying to use "recession in the pillar" cause this error and crashed the game: "Script Debug (server) - recession in the pillar - [] Pent[] P(2,15994832)

[] is a square

- two fang tooths in the cave before the flaming bats, the stone boar, and the abyss get stuck in eachother

Now, for my good news.

someone tipped me off, after complaining about my VAC issue, that i should enter in
sv_lan 1
-insecure
into my server.cfg
sometimes i tend to go bit overboard, so i did this with both the "server.cgf" in the msc folder and the valve folder
i also edited the listenserver.cfg in the msc folder. changed sv_lan 0 to 1 and put -insecure under it.

this gave me the folloing results:
vac is now off
character deletions are no more
trasitions work perfectly

this has made me immensly happy
it only works for lan, as far as i can tell

hope this helps some of you.
i've gotten really far now that i havent had my character deleted.
also, i have no idea what to do with this goblin chief head, and i have a letter to some dudes wife in gate city, which i wish i knew its whereabouts

EDIT: i just saw the dark caves transition to gate city... has anyone been there. or is gate city beind the door with the buggd pillar?

EDIT #2: my spider quest gets stuck every time =\. the second wave of spiders has a tiny spider stuck in the lining web-wall near the exit, and a bigger one in the same situtation a little farther out on the opposite wall.

i made my whole way in the haunted forest (sfor) ,and once i was at that light,THERE WAS NOTHING??? is that a bug or what, where is that god damn ring!!!

Erhm, I haven't seen this reported so here I go:

Most of the time, you can't see peoples stuff on them, so they look naked, you can only see they items if they just equiped it.


Also, using the bank and going to TL, will get your character deleted, This happened to 3 people.
The deletion is related with the bank.

(Im pretty sure most of these havent been reported)

The giant bears in heras cannot move, and the animation error gets annoying after a while.

When i killed the troll in heras, the server crashed (I was hitting it with a maul while floating on the water)

Venemous spiders sometimes cant attack if you get really close.

The ruins off of sfor (dont know name), the skeletons there get stuck in the ceiling occasionally, and the riddlemaster doesnt work (grrr).

Lightning does too little damage on lvl 1 (0-.1 to rats) and magic takes an insanely long time to level up (Can only train 2 magic skills, 13 fire and lightning = level 4 magic)

Not sure if this is a bug, but sitting doesnt replenish mana (Making magic take a really long time to train, i usually jump in pits to restore mana)

Rat in treasure cave in thorns flloats on air.

Skeletons give you experiance for every weapon you killed them with each time they "die."

The chat text stays for way to long.

Sensitivity defaults to 23

Partied players can still hurt eachother.

Sometimes the skeletons in heras get stuck on the piller outside the ruins.

The torch sometimes has no fire, and the fire sprite and fireball spark sprites sometime stay in the map

Your can spam summon spells, and summon rats in walls.

The spider boss in sfor is stuck in floor/wall.

Citizans in the mercants square sometimes spawn in the fountain.

I once saw a bear spawn with one of the cubs in thornlands, but after i killed the cub (It rushed me) i couldnt find where the bear had gone.

One of the time transitions make it it practically impossible to navigate unlighted areas (unless i use 2 torches and stack it with glow)

Glow's duration is way to short to be useful in situations you would need it.

I once accidently duplicated a bag, but it dissappeared wen i used it.

I can confirm and agree with all of that. ↑

The chat text stays for way to long... sometimes, and sometimes it just stays forever until you do chat again.

Also i´m testing something, but maybe not a game bug but something else:
-Two times i tried to create a LAN with only 2 player allowed the game never pass the loading screen. (Need to test this more).

-When trying to kill the mage from the library, (don´t remember the map name), the game just crashed. It could be just a random crash because i did only once.

a few things...

i know this has been reported, but i just wanted to verify...
i created a lan game with cliet side characters and me and my brother played for a while. his character was stored on my pc.

i bought a "decorated helmet" and when i put it on it said "you put on a mongol helmet"

the "two handed axe" does not do damg after the initial swing when you hold it down. goes through the animation, but wont do damg unless you click agian.

(Blah blah im new..but to the forums, not MS!)

I took Crow's advice considering the "sv_lan 1" "-insecure" thing in the 'server.cfg' files, and it works perfectly for me. Just thought i'd post that, because i've been searching all day for answers and barely stumbled upon them this late. Anyone else giving it a go as well?

A few sound issues that i'm not sure have been addressed yet...

Niether the troll nor the giant black bear play thier sounds, except the bear plays it's death sound

the "heal_charge" or whatever is most likely meant for the regeneration spell when your charging it up, but it doesnt play it.

Few quick bug notes:
The giant bears (with the animation problem) horribly lag the server until you kill them (pings from 50 -> 1500 consistant).

If an arrow is in a breakable, the server will crash if you break it. So be careful not to accidently shoot it.

Bugs:
I cannot cast rejuvinate on allies that have PK'd, im assuming this is intentional but reporting it anyways.

Ice shield can be cast on enemies.

Ive occasionally had problems where my character has problems transferring from edena to thornlands (No bank involved), the game seems to refuse the fact that my character left edana and took me about 7 tries to get it to allow me to spawn there.

Odd bug: After uploading a character file to a server side character server, we spawned in the void until we had the chance to spawn in edana. After that it worked. (I'm assuming it spawned at 0,0,0 but i forgot to check)

Complaints: (Yay! :p)
The tresure chest at the bottom of heras (by the virus consputo army) is not worth it, and theres no way to get back up. After killing about 20 of those blasted things and finding my way down there i want a good reward. Same goes for the treasure in cruins by the spider boss with the high level venom spitting spiders.

The game crashes at "Parses server info" when i create a server. It happened AFTER i applied the patch. It crashes when 5 bars have appeared.
No error msg, just plain CtD

Yeah same here. WTF IS GOING ON! I want to play this game I love MS1 and want to play this but it crashes everytime I join a server. I downloaded MSC from every mirror and still the same problem. I have OpenGL on and I recently updated my ATI card a month ago and there is no new drivers(If there is link please)

So its not me and I know its now. I suggest a patch cause I show this mod to 3 friends and they are having the same problem.

MSC crashes whenever something disappears and an arrow is attatched to it, this applies to summoned monsters disappearing without dying and breakables.

When using server side characters, it allows my character to spawn on any map, but if i do, i spawn in the void until i spawn in edana, and after spawning in the void, it counts you character as being there. Spawns at 0x,0y,0z.

has anyone been able to raise there protection and summoning mage skills yet? I know we cant upgrade ice spells tell we find where it is and what about the other spells Divination, and Affliction? what spells do these two use?
