This may bring back some memories to old Everquest gamers :).

This is the Estate of Unrest and it is, which you can probably guess, mainly filled with undead. I got bored in class a few days ago(and have been bored of ms:c's limited maps) and thought this idea up and I think it's turning out well so far. The map is mainly focused on the manor in which you will find many levels of baddies.

I have the map entirely done except for adding monsters so far. There is no rad yet unfortunately. I'm afraid to run it with lights as it is already jumping from 12-40 fps in parts.

This is a sneak peek until I get the monsters in:

I've got a few ideas for a map series of my own as well, and one of them is cave-torches.

You add a bunch of torches in a cave, but you make sure all light entities are turned off. Then you add a bunch of invisible func_button entities (each one overlapping a torch). Whenever the player 'uses' the torch, he/she lights it using his/her own torch (that's the idea behind it), but what really happens is this: you just have the func_button activate the light entity.

I suck at explaining but I hope you get the point

YOU DONT GOT TIME TO MAKE A PROFILE
Aparently he had trouble with the file, but it worked the 9th time. I think.

I'd say the fact that you compiled without rad (or vis, i dunno, whichever one does the shadows and such. pretty sure its rad) is what is makin it so laggy.

There are no shadows (looks really ugly when its fullbright), and the distance at which you can see stuff needs to be turned up (in map properties "max viewable distance")

Structure wise, its looks good. I only ever visited unrest once, but the map brings back memories :D only thing that bothered me was the fence in the front of the house was the same texture as the other parts, which looked wierd.

i suggest you recompile and release agian.
you should recreate PoK :D

Thanks Kuroneko.

And PoK.. wow that would be a nightmare for fps.
The viewable distance being turned up would only make the fps worse along with the lighting so I don't count on re-releasing it to make even worse fps :p . Though I am adding a second map that is part of unrest :oldshock: .

Just from personal experience, compiling without rad is worse than with for r speeds. Even if you don't beleive me, at least humor me, unless compiling is a huge pain in the ass. You might be surprized. Or i might be wrong.

Did I mention you should never-ever release a map that hasn't gone through an HLRAD compile? As they both look and run like **** :oldangry:
