Re: VISTA ISSUES *

Dun think it's related to this... Although that does remind me, I've been hosting a vista server, but have not tried my vista client since the patch. >_>

My suggestions would be to try the config at the top of the bug report sticky, try other servers, and possibly, roll back.

Re: VISTA ISSUES *

i messed with a couple things and got it running stable heres the options i changed for anyone having the same issues:

Multiplayer Menu-
[ ] the check box saying "Use high quality model" make sure this is unchecked

Multiplayer Advanced-
uncheck transparent event console
uncheck show third-person view on first person HUD
uncheck Reflections
0 Multiplayer decal limit

I have no crashed since changing these options

Re: VISTA ISSUES *

I recently Installed Vista Service Pack 1 for 64 bit and everything runs stable. Have not had a single crash from MS:C as of yet.

Rejoice Vista users SP1 looks like its gonna be good.

Re: VISTA/ATI ISSUES [/BIG WHITE BOTTLE IN FACE]

This "big white bottle" issue isn't exclusive to Vista, and definitely has nothing to do with newer ATI cards. I'm running on XP Pro with a x300(which is old as hell), and the latest Catalyst drivers (8.3).

X300 isn't that old. But yeah, it is indicative mostly of the newer catalyst drivers crappy OpenGL support. It always happens on those ATI’s that are Vista-only though. My Vista laptop doesn’t get it with its nVidia card.

Code:
FOR /F "tokens=2*" %%A IN ('REG QUERY "HKCU\software\valve\steam" /v ModInstallPath') DO SET steamdir=%%B
del %steamdir%\msc\gfx\vgui\hud_main.tga

If ye put that into a batch file, it should fix yer problem when ye run it.

For some reason, the HUD works perfectly now for me. I haven't updated the drivers in a while, but they are at most I believe 1 month old.

My ATI drivers are current as of October of this year, I'm using Vista x64, and the big bottle didn't appear for me either...Did the ATI people finally fix their messed up drivers?

I would like to confirm that after updating my video card driver (ATI X1600 Pro) to the latest one it supports which is catalyst 9.3 I believe, the gray bottle has disappeared and the hud shows perfectly fine for me.
