YOU DONT GOT TIME TO MAKE A PROFILE

Well, that was the idea: that you’d have to overwhelm them with numbers. They have a fatal flaw, which I suppose I’ll spoiler here: Only one of them can use the freeze ray at any given time. If you get one player to take the freeze ray and live, the others aren’t anymore dangerous than ice elementals (less, as they have no freeze-solid ability). Also, given the way the uber-reaver functions, I was figuring there was no way to survive this map without some sort of anti-freeze protection. (Pensoil makes a good product, so I hear.)

Ah, alrighty, thats fine then, it just bothered me that they we're way tougher for us to take out then the boss. Well, actually I guess not tougher, its just we died way more to them then the boss, but I think the boss took longer, as he regenerated health like a madman, had to kill him at least 5x over. A couple of times he went back up to full, toher times up to half just when we thought we had him. Would you mind pm-ing me exactly how he works? I'm extremely curious.

About the reaver, I don't remember any lighting burst. He seemed to crash at the same time every time after entering combat, so I'm thinking its some timed thing he does. As far as breakables... yes, but they are timed to break 30 seconds after he spawns, and they have broken before the crash.

Hmm… I’ll examine – he shouldn’t be much of an edict whore (not anymore than the Bear God of Frost, which uses all the same tricks, just not nearly so nastily). Did the lightning burst go off? Tis the only trick I think he has that is separate that maybe problematic. He was working fine a few months ago, but I may have messed with one of his spells that he shares with some other creature and thus broke him.

Other question: Are there breakables near him?

could be the same reason why the Bear God of Frost crashes. from what ive seen/heard he crashes quite often.

Me neither...

But yeah, if you don't see the lightning burst, that's likely the culprit (crashing as soon as he casts it). I'll try to make sure that's fixed before a B release.

As for the Orc Chief, it's the Blood Drinker that gives him the rapid regen. Trick is to have him throw the sword, and whoever it targets needs to get as far away from him as possible, while the other players pummel him like mad before it returns - being very careful not to be hit by it as it does. He doesn't regen from any other attacks, just the sword (be the sword flying or in his hands). Occasionally he bugs a bit and gets a tiny bit of regen if he swings his sword and hits someone else with a secondary effect at the same time, but tis rare.

If this helps, i'll tell how it happens:
Reaver appears, casts the giant blizzard, does a lil bit of melee, then crashes.
So you should know what he's supposed to do after the blizzard.

Yeah... It seems to be the lightning thing... tis a shame as I love the effect - but I had to take the same spell off another boss for the same reason, and forgot this guy shared it.

I guess I'll have him do a COE lightning attack like his little brother does instead.

Actually, IIRC, he not only saw them but critisized the map afterwards (too many large open areas - you've so many mean, large bosses, it's kinda necessary though.) So I think he wants new pics. I should probably download yer map, I assume it's sitting on my host.

If ya need more beta-testers, and are testing with server-side characters, you can just copy the level 40 test char over their ID's - then they can help you test regardless of their level. (I don't think the game freaks if the names match up).

What? Since when?!?

I certainly don't remember! Link me to it if it IS true, and I'll shut up, but that completely evades my memory!

The most fool-proof way that I'm aware of is to have each dead monster target a trigger_counter via their killtarget property.

trigger_counter is a standard half-life entity. It is in the half-life.fgd included in the msc/dev folder it. It is, somewhat annoyingly, a solid, so you will want to use the "no clients" flag as well (I've yet to figure a way to get an FGD to allow items such as this to be solids or point ents as desired.).

That would be the problem, I didn't consider it being a solid. Thus I was trying to use a game_counter.

Awsome, should have it fixed, thus the map ready, within the next couple of days.

EDIT: Need a second beta test! Probably today. Just gonna grab who ever is in game or on msn. Hopefully one of those people can host.

I'm ready to beta test. I didn't make it last time because my friends were over and they occupied me.

I'll check back here in a bit, but otherwise I guess I'll wait till tomorow.

I would be interested in helping you test the map. I will be watching this thread for a reply.
