Yea i noticed this a few days ago Gaz doesn't only help with MS:C but he also works on PVK2 (Pirates, Vikings, And Knights 2) you should check it out! 8)

Granted... I could also be working on MS:S, but I don't even want to suggest such a thing.

Though right now they have only one class for each team, but the next update will have a new class for each, you should still try it because its fun! :D

gaz's island map is amazing, I wish I was half as good :) .

So yea, I'd release it now but theres no reward for all your hard work. If thothie wanted to update the... whatever it is that holds treasure chest info, then that would be swell. Or you could wait for the next patch, which is very soon anyways.

You have all the stuff thoth, ball's in your court. Not to put pressure on you or anything, just want to make sure you know I'm done ^_^

Meh, hopefully I'll have time to see the map and make up some new items for the chests. I won't really be home much until the 29th (also doesn't help when I am home, it's my only chance to play FF, which is eating teh free teimz).

So I have a serverside character server with all the [FN] characters running this map now, and currently I'm playing it alone.

And I'm stuck at the starting area.
I killed two lesser stone masons, two petrified blademasters, two greater stone masons and four ice troll lobbers and I appear to be stuck. The door isn't opening, I tried using it, I tried breaking it, but it doesn't work. I also tried attacking the big sword statue but that doesn't work either.

Also, the edge you can fall off at the start is "sticky". You can get semi-stuck on it, and only when you move around alot, you'll fall down into the teleporter entity. I suggest you put some thin CLIP brushes around the edge of that... edge to fix it.

Edit: So I used RipEnt to remove the door, since this isn't [FN] anyway, and I'm now fighting the reaver with Jelly and Tentadrilus. The reaver hacks, stop having him attack us through walls and shit.

Edit 2: This map suffers from the Wicard Oven syndrome.

This map already crashed once during the uber reaver fight, and twice during the fight with the four ice mages.

In fact, the second time I attempted to kill the four ice mages (Jelly and Ryan were also in-game) my server crashed in a matter of minutes.

Crashes in bossrooms = the Wicard Oven syndrome, because Wicard Oven also crashed a thousand times during the Maldora fight.

Edit: Just for the record:
First run-through: me (alone), stuck at the front gate.
Second run-through (after removing the door with RipEnt): Jelly, Tentadrilus and I, server crashes at the uber reaver.
Third run-through: Tentadrilus, Adventurer ("The Adventurer12"), Ryan and I, server crashes at the ice mage fight.
Fourth run-through: Jelly, Ryan and I, server crashes at the ice mage fight.

One out of three times the uber reaver fight crashed the server, and two out of two times (holy shit) the ice mages crashed the server.

hrmph.

guess ill have to axe a bunch of sprites.

dunno what to do about him attacking you through walls. never had that problem.

the door... i tested it with different monsters and it worked, and just replaced the script file names to the ones I wanted before the last compile. dunno what the hell to do there. I can't test it with the real monsters as my lan char is a weakling, and I can't figure out how to use the test char. i'm using trigger_counter, the least buggiest way to have things triggered when other things die.

Yeah. Obviously Thothie scripted the reaver so that it can attack you through walls. I wonder what the next step in "realism" in this game is.

Anyway: I noticed that the ice troll lobbers don't have death animations. Jelly pointed out that because of this, the game might not think they're dead, causing the chain of map events to stop even though they are dead. If you tested the map with other monsters (that do have death animations), I guess it worked.

Think J-M just nailed the problem right there.

Also, what exactly defines realism in this genre? You shoot fireballs out of your hand, but monsters can't attack through a wall?

I'm not saying its right that it should be able to hit you from anywhere, but I don't think that "realism" is what this game is shooting for.

Well, then disregard the realism comment, and keep agreeing with me that it's not right that the uber reaver is a ****ing wallhacker.

Well, I played this map about four times on J-M's server yesterday, And I must admit; It was quite fun (Aside from all four times crashing.) I managed to solo my way through all of the monsters up until Runeghar, That's when things became though.

I must say, Despite Runeghar's massive ability to kick my ass all across the table that he is REALLY fun to fight! I think more bosses should be set up like him, The way he attacks you and throws his sword; Even firing a f*cking tornado at you! :oldshock: It was very humorous to slide around the room as you're being chased by a huge orc throwing his blade at you and getting trailed by a tornado that slings you about like a toy. :oldlol:

All and all, Great map Crow; Looking forward to playing your future maps. :)

Yeah, that was the issue - you likely needed Crow there to hack the door open. This has been fixed, and they work fine now.

As for the Ice Reaver "wall hacking" I've no idea what J-M's on about.

The thing does have a massive AOE blizzard with a fairly long, fairly mild freezing effect. Like all effects, it sticks to you after death for a bit, maybe that's it, I dunno, but I've seen no evidence to ban his Steam ID.

As for the crashiness... I've moved Lightning Storm completely client side, tweaked the ice skeles, and the ice mages (although the new ice mage's beam doesn't appear to track as well on the client.) The uber reaver isn't doing anything real spectacular or untested, so I dunno what, if anything, could be causing crashes with him at this point.
