i have decided to release the Bloodrose WIP for testing...
place the upgraded bludgeon model in your models folder...and the bloodrose.bsp in your maps folder

- Xbow + 100 of every bolt in the game = too easy to get.
Play this on FN and your character may be deleted for cheating!

changes for the bludgeon:
new skin
fixed the broken stand animation

Current issues:

Cobra does not agro
Findlebind should be an elf
Some monsterclips traps monsters
Kodiak can get stuck in one of the Mynath houses.

if you find any issues or wish to comment anything post here.

Story of Mynath: Mynath is a little elven trading city in the mountains,
it was happy and wealthy, however recently most people in the town got ill, they suddently refused to drink and refused to eat and one after one died...
in the end only an old hermit and his dwarf friend survived,
suddenly the dead villagers raised from their graves and now the city is haunted...
perhaps the city is hiding a much bigger secret...

pretty sure it was - plus he's given me instructions on how this map should be done...so i'll be working on it this weekend (its this, or homework)

i'll probably keep the textures, unless i find better ones or find some that are messed up.

i MIGHT keep some of the monsterclips - some are really really thick and high though o_O

i'll probably use your version, but with alot of changes - IE: i'm adding a transition, might add a few other things...secrets... >_>

so- your work wasn't completely wasted, but it could've been better spent.

well use my edition...
i dont care about the monsterclips or so...
just keep a bludgeon somewhere(hint hint...secret room)...and a shield skeleton...keep the wildlife intact... bears(brown,black,grizzly), boars and cobras.. and the concept...like the haunted city...
if u do that i dont care...i just want it to have a cool wildlife and the abandoned elven city and so on

i guess i'll use this post for it then...anyways, i've been working on bloodrose for a few hours today...changes include

a newly redone troll cave
a transition to ms_snow
changed grass texture
added new path on bottom level
deleted laggy brush-based furniture and replace with better looking env_model furniture


thoughts: i plan to expand in a few areas, adding quite a few more undead, and a cave for the kodiak.

Yeah, looking at Little G's source I think you're going to have to start over anyways... I know there's no way he did the brush work required to get up to MS_SNOW and add more transitions in anycase.

Please use that Kodiak/Findlebind quest though - v. good mid-level quest for that area.

That door has been sealed, though it once lead to the ruins of Melanion, the ancient elven capital.
Kray Eldorad was later built upon its ruins... Those poor elven fools...
...Beneath the veneer of that elven paradise lurk monsters that you cannot even imagine!

Ya might want to leave some sort of safty gap near the Melanion gate (that big sealed wooden door) - for which an elven warrior can wander about in. I've no NPC for that yet though.

Who said Findlebind is supposed to be an Elf anyways?

PS. Cobras are traps, they are supposed to be non-agro. Intended to make a wandering rattler variant, but have not gotten to it yet. (Have model)

i've already done the brushwork for the ms_snow transition...and i intend to keep the findleblind quest ;)

actually i was wondering if you could expand it a bit...


right now i'm adding in some things to make the map more playable, as it is you just kind of wander around being bored...fixing that with an undead dungeon (part of which was in already), more paths (still visblocked), a bear cave for kodiak, and a boss-battle (of which i shall tell you in a PM).

Expand all ya want... So long as you can avoid max_map_clipnodes and the like. The more transitions the better.

There's a bridge with two doors, neither of which go anywhere - it has a trigger hurt running over it's surface, I'd like it either axed, or turned into someting. (Or at least covered with some sort of {bars texture, rather than the trigger hurt, which just seemed silly.

As for the bear, if ya wanna set it up so it don't spawn until after you talk to Findlebind, I can arrange him to trigger a map event after his speil... Like "make_bear" maybe...

I'd like the lower, outside areas to be Daragoth'ish in difficulty, but in the deeper caves, and way up high (and in that dome) you can get as hard as you'd like.

...if you have any suggestions for an NPC in that dome, please do tell.

I've already deleted that kill zone - i hate random killzones...especially when they kill me...I'll be using that bridge, so dont worry about that (do you still want a transition?)

There are plenty of ranged orcs, to be sure, and it seems to be orcs would work well for the lower outside areas. monsters/anim_archer (ie. animated armor) - register as unded. I intend to move them to demon faction so they can be used more freely (ie. so they won't conflict with orcs, Keledros as well). I've not gotten to fixing flyer AI nor rebuilding giant bat from scratch (who would be a good canidate, if he worked right). Both a major undertakings with the hard code, that I can't even get to compile, at hand.

Skeletal archers would be a major undertaking for Orochi, I suspect. But no more than the armored trolls I asked him to make for you. ;)

minibosses/flesheaterminion are green, poisonus skeletons, as is minibosses/flesheater himself (er, red poisonus skeleton, atm). As for the necro and the apprentice, I've some possibilities I've PM'd.

thanks - i've fixed up various parts of the map (ladders), and made a new bridge...its going to lead to the entrance to the first part of the dungeon...

i might even be able to get this cranked out by next week :eek:

Since we're going to have a different version of this map, and this one isn't going to be the official - I went and renamed Little G's version of the map to "Bloodrose_Gurluas so we don't get dozens of people with "Your map does not match server's" errors later.

To compensate him, I moved his link to my site. Less crap to deal with there.

On second thought, removed for cheat map.

Easy access xbow. Those of you who got them will lose them in the next patch. (Not deleting anyone for em, since it don't work right yet anyways) *sigh* I knew I shoulda deleted it before ditro'ing the betapack.

Thanks Thothie, also question, are Xboxs actually legally implented in-game or will they be added legally next patch?

I have seen some Xboxs around, thats why I ask.

And if they are implented legally, give me a tip on where to find them : O.

They don't work right yet. So no, not leagal.

If you find someone who got them from someplace other than bloodrose, they should be deletified.

Starting tomorrow, and continuing until official Bloodrose release, anyone caught running it will be deletified.

i usually keep my server open so i can get feedback on it and so people can look around... >_>
