Replica's server is bugged again... stupid noobs never learn... and I've seen servers stuck on gert_cape twice too.
If someone could PM me the way to change that cvar so I can fix them it would be appreciated.

Bandits now give 60xp and trained ones 120xp, is it intentional?

How do you even get to "gert_cape"? :\

On the bandits, yes... Raised their XP values slightly, seeing as how gold is useless to anyone who can take them down in number, and it puts them more on par with orcs of the same caliber.

Artifact Chest sometimes skips people.

I've had this occur 4 times with 4 chests in a row. It may be between my crappy connection and the fact I was on revolution which is half way across the world. So the two probably don't help the matter much.

I'll post again if it resolves with quitting out of the game and hopping back in.

How can you tell if it is "skipping" people? They don't hand out every item they have every time they spawn to every player on the server. There's just a chance they will hand out each item to the best scoring players.

Quitting and logging back in may reset your score (depending on how well the GM is keeping track opf points).

2nd most points each time. Here, will just post the whole summarized story

Ran demon temple. 5 people. Steak won in points. Got Two choices from arti, went from steak, to 3rd most points person. (Steak got my choice somehow)

Ran it again. 6 people. Steak won in points. He once again got two choices, skipped me (was in 2nd again), 3rd person in list chose.

Ran Lolagond, Same story.

Ran Loligond, again same story.

Sorry for not making this clear.

Well it may not be that it's so "broken" however more of a bug that happens, as this is the first time I've seen things like this since the new arti got put in place.

Once again, I'm about to hop in game and see if I can hit up another arti chest to just see if it was just a combo of either the server,my session being buggy, or the lag between me and the server. Think theres more to this than the chests just being "broke" when they've worked fine 90+% of the time.

Just to confirm, Thraxis was always the second in the list and I always declined to take anything so he gets to choose, but even when it was something he wanted, the 3rd in the list would get it.

Again, it'd help if someone had access to the chatlog on one of these servers when this happens - the arti chests send some debug info to the chatlog.

Don't know if this is a bug or not, but the Blood Drinker only followed me, even though I wasn't attacking him :S
And I don't think I was the first person to hit him, only used volcano once in awhile, whenever I could sit and regen my mana :|

It should pick a random player in range...
...I should make it beam the player... So he knows who he is, and has some idea where it is (in case he isn't an NS player used to tracking things by sound) - it would also tell the other players to stay the hell away from him. ;)

After quitting out of MS:C and rejoining, the Arti system is back to normal with people who are in the server with me.

I can probably have an interim server-side patch in the next few days that'll fix (amongst other things):
- elemental resistance
- lodagond/gert_forest support not working proper
- various map vote / invalid trans issues / exploits
- monster look--> / revenge of the chatbug errors (Thank MiB, again)

However, Rickler's map is about ready to go, and he wants some more scripts for it, so I figure I'll hold off an official B patch until that's done. Either way, this will be a server-side only thing, it'll be optional for clients until we get sfor/nm_sfor and the model consolidation.

Whether Rickler's scripts are done or not, I'll put out something for server hosts tomorrow.

Sorry, as I know this should be obvious, but after grinding all night and generally being just tired right now. Ricklers map (Aleyesu) would be with the full B patch only correct? Not ready to go tomorrow even if you got the scripts done? I'm only wondering because then that'd mean I'd have till you get finished to wrap the music up for that >.> Granted it could go without it for now and be slipped in later I guess. Just didn't think it'd be raring to go possibly tomorrow :p.

Sorry once again if this is blatantly obvious and i'm just missing it.

Thats kinda what i mean't while playing with Xero on lodagond. It kept following us and hitting us til we died or he made it come back.

With the little gertenheld forest patch, the elemental system was working fine even with 8-9 players so far as I know, glad you didn't have to remake it from scratch :). So I wonder if you had to tweak it some more or if you just want to make the fix more public.

• Elemental Resistance System

- but be careful not to go to a MAR2008a server with your new tickets!
• Potion of Stability
• Monster->Look error spam / lag / revenge of the chatbug thingie (Thank MiB!)
• Adds some FER spiders to the caves in Calruin2
• Optimizes lightning effects on Lightning Djinn, Venevus, and Air elementals
• MAY make some AOE spells more reliable (blizzard/lstorm)

New monsters:
• monsters/scorpion4 – meaner, but slower, giant scorpion
• monsters/scorpion5 – Gigantic venomous scorpion, lumbering beastie with some push back and heavy poison (more to come)
• monsters/wizard_normal – Generic variant of Keledros, goes straight into combat, no drops (use wizard_died trigger to respond to death event, post ‘reanimation’)
• monsters/wizard_strong – Generic variant of Venevus, goes straight into combat, normal death sequence, no drops
• monsters/snake_lord – Generic variant of Slithar, goes straight into combat, does not summon skeletons, no drops

When I get done with Rickler’s elementals, I’ll release an official B patch, I suppose. Meanwhile, there’s just this. This package only includes the SSE2 compile – give me a heads up if you need a less optimized compile for an older CPU.

CL is still better than LS, takes a second before it starts hitting and most times it's still 0,6 or 0,2 followed by a few 1Xlightning level damage. Still too unreliable to train with or use :wink: Without mentioning the whoping mana drain for incredibly low damage.
Tested on Foutpost.
I'd like to see it strike fast in a small AoE like it used to do before. And the best way to train lightning without spamming CL around a bunch of monsters for a whole minute is the lightning rod with 50 Mana per Lightning bolts. I think 50 is a bit too much, I'd recommend 20.

Well, they even out in dmg/sec – although I think CL has a larger radius. They both do about the same damage ( lightning skill / second for Lstorm, and lightning skill * 0.75 for CL)

Sometimes lstorm will do a little extra damage when you strike something directly with the bolt – I should probably undo that to avoid confusion when you get that fractional damage.

Under the old system the lstorm did lightning skill divided by 3 damage per bolt. Problem with that is, for one, the bolts are client side now and wont line up, but bigger, is that you can’t pass XP that way through multiple tiny overlapping explosions – as it causes what they call in the sothern end of the technical world, "el crashierino".


My main concern with it, is that sometimes it didn’t seem to be catching things in its radius. Some things would get by unharmed, and that, seems to have stopped. Same with blizzard.

Awwwww... not a bug but Lodagond's monsters now give 2/3 of what they used to... I guess I'll take a break of this game until content that *could* make me gain a level in a skill in less than 100 hours of gameplay is released.
But of course, once sxbow is released I'll get one :wink:.
